Fellow Labor & Employment Law Section members joined her at the Miller Canfield Detroit office for the seminar, which also featured presenters Naomi Oglesby of The Murray Law Group and Kevin Carlson of Kevin M. Carlson, PLLC.
Burgess Sharp & Golden Senior Counsel Joseph Golden participated as an attorney mentor for law students at Detroit Mercy Law’s annual Mentor Jet event, where legal professionals engage with students in a speed-networking format to offer advice on how to be successful in law school and start a career in law.
Syeda Davidson is on the board of directors at Affirmations, a community center for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. One of the programs in which she is an active participant is the Cross the Line (XTL) Youth Workforce Development Program, which empowers LGBTQ+ youth with successful workforce navigation skills. Syeda arms participants with knowledge about employment law so that they know their rights when they enter the workforce.
Attorney Heidi Sharp is the Vice President of Board of Directors of Macomb County Habitat for Humanity, who held a Leader’s Luncheon this afternoon. Here we heard from several individuals, such as Board Members and locals personally helped by Habitat for Humanity.
On July 29, 2014, the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Michigan State Bar held its First Annual Summer Outing at Comerica Park’s Miller Lite Lounge. Members of the LELS were invited to watch the Detroit Tigers take on the Chicago Red Sox!
